STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut Alumni Association has announced new and returning members of the Board of Directors for fiscal year 2009-2010. The Board of Directors is the association’s governing body, and is elected by the Alumni Association membership.

This year, four new members were elected to the board: Steve Blovish, ’80, ’84, of BLOOMFIELD; Laura Cahill, ’84, of GLASTONBURY; Alan Katten, ’86, ’91, of BERLIN; and Lori Riiska, ’84, of WINSTED.

Two incumbents – Bob Johnson, ’69, ’79, of CENTERVILLE, MASS., and Rosemarie Tate, ’81, ’88, of WEST HARTFORD – were re-elected and will remain on the board until 2012.

Johnson also was elected third vice president last month when the members of the board elected their new officers for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. Frank Milone, ’92, of AMSTON, was elected president. Other officers include Lisa McGuire, ’83, of SOUTH WINDSOR, first vice president; Rachel Rubin, ’77, of AVON, second vice president; Dennis Cavanaugh, ’78, of GLASTONBURY, secretary; and David Francione, ’96, of NEEDHAM, MASS., treasurer.

Board members are elected to serve three-year terms and may be re-elected to serve for an additional consecutive term. Officers of the board are elected annually in June, and serve for one year.
