Emergency Notification Systems Test Set For April 12

A test of the University's emergency notification systems is scheduled for April 12 at 1:50 p.m.

On Tuesday, April 12, at approximately 1:50 p.m., the University will conduct a test of its emergency notification systems at the Storrs campus.

The comprehensive test will include several components of the system including activation of the alert banner on the webpage, activating the voice and strobe light functions of the campus blue phones, activating the outside siren/emergency public address system, and sending text messages and an e-mail alert to the Storrs campus community. Messages will also be sent through UConn Today’s Facebook and Twitter feeds.

The test should take no more than 20 minutes, during which time the alert banner will also appear on university websites at all UConn campuses. If you have not yet registered your cell phone so that you are able to receive emergency text messages, you can do so by visiting the alert website before midnight on April 11.

This is only a test, as the University works to ensure that the Alert Notification System is as effective as possible in communicating during an emergency. In the event of an actual emergency, information will be available at the alert website (http://alert.uconn.edu).
