<p>The University of Connecticut’s Jazz Lab Band, conducted by John Mastroianni, performed on April 11 in von der Mehden Recital Hall. The band premiered a new arrangement by Melinda Burnham, a member of UConn’s band, and also performed a variety of big band music, including new arrangements by Eric Richards. Richards is a retired staff composer/arranger for the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors.The 17-piece Jazz Lab Band trains and develops students to climb the ranks from the Lab Band to the Jazz Ensemble.
