Twenty-four teams competed in the 2012 Gingerbread House Decorating Competition during the Winter Holiday Celebration for faculty and staff on Dec. 6 at Rome Commons.

The theme of the celebration was the Roaring Twenties, in a nod to the 2012-13 UConn Reads book selection, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

First place went to a team from the School of Business Career Center, the Ginger Snaps, for a period house from the 1920s. The winning creation will be placed on display at Gulley Hall. Second place went to Five Golden Rings, a staff team from the Women’s Basketball program, and in third place was the UConn Reads team from the School of Business Management Department.

The judges were President Susan Herbst, her husband Doug Hughes, and Mun CHoi, interim provost.

The annual event is organized by University Events and Conference Events.
