Selecting the Scoop

A panel of five seniors selected the official 2014 Senior Scoop flavor during Senior Kickoff on Wednesday.

A panel of five seniors judged the 2014 Senior Scoop contest yesterday, during the Senior Kickoff event in the Rome Ballroom.

Jess Labowski, Ed Courchaine, Courtney Downs, Gabe Castro, and Kelly Chasse – all from the Class of 2014 – taste-tested three different ice cream flavors:

Chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallow swirl
Coconut, almonds, and fudge swirl
Coffee, Oreos and fudge swirl

The judges were joined by UConn Homecoming king Justis Lopez as emcee.

After some delicious tasting and much deliberation, the judges chose coffee with Oreos and fudge swirl as the official 2014 Senior Scoop flavor.

A naming contest for the new flavor will take place in late January.
