Chief of Surgery Expands Department

Dr. David McFadden is recruiting doctors in key areas to help increase the types of surgical services available to patients.

One of the reasons Dr. David McFadden, chair of the Department of Surgery in the UConn School of Medicine and surgeon-in-chief at the UConn Health Center, became a surgeon is because he likes the idea of tackling a problem intellectually and fixing it manually.

McFadden, who did his internship, residency and fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, came to UConn because of the tremendous changes happening here. “I saw an opportunity to develop a world class surgical program,” says McFadden.
