Top women’s basketball players from around the country spent three days Feb. 21-23 at the Olympic Training Camp in the Werth Family UConn Basketball Champions Complex on the Storrs campus. Among them were former UConn greats Sue Bird (Seattle Storm), Stefanie Dolson (Washington Mystics), Maya Moore (Minnesota Lynx), and Diana Taurasi (Phoenix Mercury), and current Husky Breanna Stewart, the only collegiate player at the camp. One additional former Husky, Tina Charles, was among three finalists playing overseas who were unable to attend the camp.

The three-day camp served as the last tryout opportunity for the USA Basketball Women’s National Team that will compete in this year’s Olympics. The final selection of 12 will be announced in April.

Head coach Geno Auriemma was assisted during the camp by UConn associate head coach Chris Dailey and University of Hartford head coach and former Husky Jennifer Rizzotti, among others.
