Student-Athletes Earn Big East Academic Honors

The league recognized dozens of players on UConn's Women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey teams.

More than three dozen University of Connecticut student-athletes from the field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams earned spots on the Big East All-Academic Team to close out the 2016-17 season, the league announced.

The 2,501 student-athletes in the 2016-17 league’s class are the most honorees in the four years since the Big East Conference realignment.

To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in a Big East-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semesters or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
