Tropical Storm Irene: Storrs Campus Update

Most buildings now have power. CL&P is working with UConn to restore power to those still without it.

As of 7:15 p.m. Monday, power has been restored to most Storrs campus buildings with the following exceptions: Shippee, the Depot Campus, Agronomy Farm, Warehouse, Ice Rink, Batting Area, and half of the Northwood Apartment complex. Several traffic lights along Route 195 are also not functioning. Connecticut Light and Power, the state Department of Transportation, and the University are working to restore power to these areas and are unable to estimate how long it may be before power is restored.

Classes will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 30 as scheduled. All employees are required to report as scheduled.

Please note that there have been road closures on routes near the Storrs campus as of 5 p.m. this evening, including Route 195 between I-84 and Route 32; Route 44 east of Route 195; and Route 74 in Tolland. However, because this may change, employees with concerns pertaining to travel should check available resources or with local authorities before leaving for work on Tuesday in order to get the most up-to-date information.
