5 New Physicians at UConn Health Center

Two neurologists, a urologist, an infectious disease specialist, and an obstetrician/gynecologist have joined the clinical faculty and are now seeing patients.

Dr. Erica Lambert
Dr. Erica Lambert

Dr. Erica Lambert is a urologist with expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. She is fellowship trained in endourology and laparoscopic/robotic surgery from Vanderibult University Medical Center in Nashville and completed her residency training in urology and general surgery at New York Presbyterian Medical Center-Columbia in New York City. Her medical degree is from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Her areas of expertise include prostate health, kidney health including kidney stones, and robotic surgery.


Dr. Wanda Castro
Dr. Wanda Castro

Dr. Wanda Castro is a neurologist specializing in multiple sclerosis, with specialized expertise in sexual dysfunction associated with multiple sclerosis. She plans to establish a comprehensive MS center at the UConn Health Center. She also specializes in neurosarcoidosis, neuromyelitis optica (Devic’s disease), and rheumatologic conditions with central nervous system involvement. She completed her residency training at the UConn Health Center, including her final year as administrative neurology chief resident. She went on to become a National Multiple Sclerosis Society Fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Her medical degree is from the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.


Dr. Marie Eugene
Dr. Marie Eugene

Dr. Marie Eugene is a neurologist with expertise in epilepsy. Her clinical interests include diagnosis and management of seizures and seizure disorders, general neurology, and women’s issues with epilepsy. A graduate of the UConn and Hartford Hospital Neurology Residency Program, including her final year as chief resident, she completed an epilepsy fellowship at Yale University. She is a graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.


Dr. Lisa Chirch
Dr. Lisa Chirch

Dr. Lisa Chirch, is an experienced infectious diseases physician with expertise in HIV/AIDS and travel medicine. She joins the Health Center from Stony Brook University Medical Center on Long Island, where she was an assistant professor of clinical medicine and directed the AIDS Education and Treatment Center. She concurrently served as medical director of the David E. Rogers, M.D., Center for HIV/AIDS Care in Southampton, N.Y. She is a member of the International Antiviral Society-USA core faculty. She also is director of the UConn Health Center International Traveler’s Medical Service.


Dr. Zhiquan Zhao
Dr. Zhiquan Zhao

Dr. Zhiquan Zhao is an experienced obstetrician and gynecologist with expertise in minimally invasive surgical procedures who joins the UConn Health Center from private practice. He is a graduate of China Medical University and residency trained in general surgery at Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing and in ob-gyn at the Detroit Medical Center’s Hutzel Women’s Hospital. He also completed a research fellowship in cancer biology/pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He is certified in robotic gynecological surgery, including hysterectomy.
