The University of Connecticut School of Medicine held an “accreditation celebration” Monday, recognizing the contributions of all students to the site visit by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education early this year.

“We are extremely grateful to our students for all of their hard work and support in preparation for and during the LCME site visit last February,” says Dr. Suzanne Rose, senior associate dean for education. “This appreciation celebration was a chance for all of us to come together and rejoice and recognize the contribution of our students to our great success.”

About 100 students and faculty attended the festivities, which featured an ice cream social, in the Shafer Student Center, presented by the Department of Academic Affairs and Education.

The LCME, the accrediting body of all U.S. medical schools, officially considers the UConn School of Medicine “in compliance” or “in compliance with monitoring” with all standards.

“Importantly, there are no areas of non-compliance with LCME standards, no warnings, and the SOM remains fully accredited,” Rose says. “The next accreditation site visit is slated for 2017-2018, which is another positive reflection on our performance.”
