Many Thanks to Health Center Employees

Health Center leadership recognizes those who went above and beyond during the snow storm.

UConn Health Center Winter Snow

As the Health Center community continues to dig out and resume normal activities, we would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has worked tirelessly since Friday to meet the needs of our patients and keep our campus safe.

The hospital and Emergency Department remained open throughout the worst of the storm. Many staff worked extra hours, long past their shifts, to cover for colleagues who could not make it in to work due to impassable roads. Some were at the hospital all weekend, and slept on cots to ensure that our patients’ care was always optimal. Other heroes included staff from Facilities, Dietary, Housekeeping, Environmental Control Center, Telecommunications, Poison Control Center, the Fire and Police Departments and many others. They worked diligently to clear the roads and parking areas, keep the hospital warm and comfortable, feed our patients, answer the phones, provide life-saving information and keep the Health Center safe for our patients, students and staff. The teamwork was outstanding.

Thank you for your tenacity, dedication and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Sincerely,

Frank M. Torti
