Team Geno vs. Team Kevin
Fans packed Gampel Pavilion Friday for a fun-filled First Night featuring a contest of wits and skills between Husky co-ed teams led by women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma and men’s basketball head coach Kevin Ollie. After a hard-fought scrimmage, Team Geno took the lead in the final seconds to clinch the win 51-49.
Although First Night is traditionally the start of the basketball season, this year practice opened for the men on Sept. 28 and for the women on Oct. 15. Regular season games will begin on Nov. 8 for the men against the University of Maryland at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Nov. 9 for the women against the University of Hartford at the XL Center.
