BuyTown, a comedy TV pilot written and directed by undergrad students, Ben Piascik, Ryan McCarthy, and Ivan Carlson, premieres April 19th at 7pm in UConn's Laurel Hall.

Ivan and Theo are employees in a small grocery store in Eastern Connecticut surviving what appears to be another mundane shift (unruly customers, power failure, wild animals, bathroom duty, etc.) until they discover that the newly hired cashier is not as innocent as he seems to be.

BuyTown is a half hour comedic television pilot episode that was written, produced, and stars UConn Digital Media & Design (DMD) student Benjamin Piascik, UConn Political Science student Ryan McCarthy, and ECSU Visual Arts & Design student Ivan Carlson.  This project was funded through a UConn IDEA grant and filmed over three consecutive nights at a local grocery store in early 2017.

Thomas Meacham, who portrays Jonathan, the store manager, discussed what drew him to be a part of the film. “The reason I first became involved in the development of the pilot was entirely due to Ben, Ivan, and Ryan’s creative passion for the project. Their professionalism and comic sensibilities are inspiring.”

BuyTown will premiere April 19th at 7pm in Laurel Hall 102. All are invited to attend and offer feedback following the screening. For more information please visit BuyTownGrocery.com
