John T. Goehrke, Jr. (B.S. Electrical Engineering, ’80) has joined Centice Corporation of Research Triangle Park, NC in the capacity of CEO. Centice is a pioneer in chemical verification and identification using Raman spectroscopy and computational sensor technology. In his new role as CEO, John will build on the company’s product innovation and client success and drive growth to cement its market leadership as Centice continues to emerge as a dominant force in chemical identification of narcotics, cutting agents, and controlled prescription drugs. With more than 25 years of experience in sales, marketing and general management experience, John was most recently CEO at Nextreme Thermal Solutions, which was sold to Laird Technologies in February 2013.
Peter Millett (M.S., Ph.D. Chemical Engineering ’91) is a consultant with ChemStaff, which works with the U.S. nuclear utility and many international utility companies on a variety of water chemistry related projects. His expertise lies in corrosion, PWR and BWR chemistry programs, high temperature thermodynamics (multeq), software & business development. Before joining ChemStaff in 2007, Dr. Millett worked previously with GPU and Northeast Utilities, EPRI, EPRI Solutions and iSagacity.
Hien Nguyen (Ph.D. Computer Science, ‘05) is a Fellow at Blackthorne Capital Analytics Systems and an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Before earning her doctorate, she worked at the United Nations Development Program, Hanoi, Vietnam office.
Stephen K. Rupar (B.S. Civil Engineering, ‘87) P.E., is an Associate with Tata & Howard, a leading water, wastewater, and stormwater firm. The company has over 25 years’ water utility engineering experience with specialized expertise in capital improvement program management, capital efficiency improvement, water resource planning, and water loss control. He manages Tata & Howard’s Meriden, CT office, and serves as Trustee for the Connecticut Section of the AWWA and Secretary of the South Central CT Water Utility Coordinating Committee.
Ernesto Suarez (B.S., Ph.D. Electrical Engineering, ’06, ‘13) is a visiting professor in the College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture at the University of Hartford. His research interests include heteroepitaxy of semiconductors, II-VI quantum semiconductor devices, sub 22nm nonvolatile memory FETs and high efficiency tandem solar cells.
Rich Tehrani (B.S. Computer Science & Engineering, ’89) CEO and president of Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) is sponsoring a Fitness and Sports Technology (FAST) Expo on December 9, 2013 at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City. It will be held in conjunction with the December 10-11, 2013 Wearable Tech Expo. The FAST event will explore wearable, mobile and data technology and trends, with a sharp focus on the fitness and sports verticals. TMC is a a global, integrated media company.
