The UConn men\u2019s ice hockey team will receive extensive coverage this season on the UConn IMG Audio Network with the debut of the \u201cUConn Hockey Radio Show\u201d with head coach Mike Cavanaugh and game coverage of 12 Husky contests.<\/p>\n

The show and games will be heard on WTIC NewsTalk 1080 \u2013 the flagship station of the UConn IMG Audio Network, which also is the home of UConn football and men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball. Many of the hockey games will also be available on TuneIn.<\/p>\n

The Huskies are in their second year as a member of Hockey East, the most competitive hockey conference in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis commitment is another example of how the interest in our program has grown in a short amount of time,\u201d says Cavanaugh, who is in his third season at the helm of the Husky program. \u201cVery few college hockey teams have their games on a 50,000-watt radio station, which makes these broadcasts very unique. WTIC has a long tradition of covering UConn basketball and football, and it is a tremendous honor for hockey to join that group.\u201d<\/p>\n

The host of the \u201cUConn Hockey Radio Show\u201d and primary play-by-play announcer of the games will be Rich Coppola, who has been sports director at Fox61 since 1989. Coppola is an eight-time winner of the Connecticut Sportscaster of the Year Award \u2013 given by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.<\/p>\n

Coppola will be joined on many of the game broadcasts by Joe D\u2019Ambrosio, the voice of UConn men\u2019s basketball and football on the UConn IMG Audio Network, and Bob Joyce, the voice of Husky women\u2019s basketball on the network.<\/p>\n

The game broadcast schedule will be: Tuesday, Oct. 27, vs. Boston University; Saturday, Oct. 31, vs. Notre Dame; Friday, Nov. 6, vs. UMass; Tuesday, Nov. 10, vs. Army; Tuesday, Nov. 24 vs. Boston College; Saturday, Dec. 6, at UMass-Lowell; February, Jan. 22, vs. Vermont; Saturday, Jan. 23, at Boston College; Tuesday, Jan. 26, vs. Sacred Heart; Tuesday, Feb. 2, vs. Brown; Tuesday, Feb. 19, vs. Northeastern; and Friday, Feb. 26, vs. New Hampshire.<\/p>\n

The \u201cUConn Hockey Radio Show\u201d will be broadcast from Dave and Buster\u2019s at 100 Buckland Hills Drive in Manchester, Conn. Fans are invited to attend the show in person for a chance to win special prizes and tickets to Husky games. Each show will be broadcast from 7 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

The shows will take place on: Wednesday, Nov. 4; Monday, Nov. 9; Tuesday, Dec. 8; Monday, Jan. 18; Monday, Jan. 25; Monday, Feb. 1; Monday, Feb. 22; and Tuesday, March 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
