{"id":108036,"date":"2016-01-06T09:51:57","date_gmt":"2016-01-06T14:51:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=108036"},"modified":"2016-01-07T15:04:50","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T20:04:50","slug":"vote-for-coach-ollie-in-ncaa-coaches-charity-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2016\/01\/vote-for-coach-ollie-in-ncaa-coaches-charity-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Vote for Coach Ollie in NCAA Coaches Charity Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vote <a href=\"http:\/\/es.pn\/1ZLV1Rp\">online<\/a> for UConn\u2019s Head Coach Kevin Ollie, who is competing against 47 rival men&#8217;s basketball coaches in the annual NCAA Coaches\u2019 Charity Challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Voting has already opened and fans may vote for their favorite coach every day through mid-March, so bookmark the page and set yourself a reminder.<\/p>\n<p>At stake is a $100,000 donation to his charity of choice \u2013 The <a href=\"http:\/\/cancer.uchc.edu\/\">Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center<\/a> at UConn Health.<\/p>\n<p>Just like the teams in the NCAA tournament, the UConn coach and his competitors aim to advance through various rounds of the Challenge. But instead of baskets, it\u2019s online votes from fans that will help Ollie advance.<\/p>\n<p>The Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at UConn Health is close to the Husky head coach&#8217;s heart because his mother,\u00a0Dorothy Ollie,\u00a0was successfully treated there\u00a0for cancer in 2014. Thanks to the excellent care she received, Dorothy was able to attend the 2014 NCAA Championship game to support her son, and continues to cheer on the Huskies whenever they play.
