UConn Health dermatologists, Dr. Bruce Strober<\/a> and Dr. Jane Grant-Kels<\/a>, were honored with Presidential Citations by the American Academy of Dermatology<\/a> (AAD) at its annual meeting in Washington, DC on March 3.<\/p>\n

Strober and Grant-Kels received their awards from AAD President Dr. Mark Lebwohl at the annual meeting\u2019s Stars of the Academy Reception.<\/p>\n

Strober, professor and chair of the Department of Dermatology at UConn Health, was recognized for his dedication and significant contributions to promoting excellence in psoriasis research. He also serves as the director of UConn Health\u2019s clinical trials for the Department of Dermatology.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI feel immensely flattered by the recognition by the AAD of my strong interests and efforts in helping dermatologists deliver and patients receive the best care for the treatment of moderate to severe psoriasis,\u201d said Strober. \u201cSo much progress has been made over the past decade, and I anticipate further great strides occurring before my career is over.”<\/p>\n

Grant-Kels, professor and vice chair of the Department of Dermatology at UConn Health, was honored for her commitment and significant contributions to promote the most ethical practices in medicine.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe recognition by the AAD of the importance of ethical standards in the practice of dermatology is extremely rewarding,\u201d said Grant-Kels. \u201cAt UConn Health we have initiated one of the first curriculums in dermatoethics for our dermatology residents\u00a0that we would like to see adopted at other dermatology residencies throughout the U.S. I am honored to be recognized by my peers for my interest and efforts in this field.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also serves as professor of pediatrics and pathology and director of the Cutaneous Oncology Center and Melanoma Program at UConn Health.\u00a0 Grant-Kels is the founding chair of the Department of Dermatology and served in that role until July 2015.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
