Crow Prize Winners Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four teams of engineering students were honored recently with D.E. Crow Innovation Prizes in the spring. The competition was begun in 2011 by professor emeritus and former Senior Vice President of Pratt &amp; Whitney\u2019s Engineering organization, David E. The CAPS system will eliminate non-scrap drop pieces from the operation and the need for a working stockpile, replacing the time consuming and arduous job of handling drop pieces with the quick and easy lift-and-pivot operation of the CAPS system.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\"><strong>3rd Prize: Symbolhound<\/strong><br \/>\n Team: Thomas Fedtmose (BUS), David Crane (CSE)<br \/>\n This project entails a\u00a0 search engine specifically designed for programmers that enable searching for non-alphanumeric characters on web searches.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<td>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>At Pratt &amp; Whitney, Dr. Crow oversaw the design, development, validation and certification of the company\u2019s large commercial engines, military engines and rocket products; and led research and development of advanced technology systems to meet future aircraft requirements. He was elected to the prestigious National Academy of Engineering for his leadership in the engineering design of high-bypass-ratio gas turbine engines for aircraft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Four teams of engineering students were honored recently with D.E.
