Chemical Engineering, \u201983) has joined KODA Distribution Group as President and Chief Executive Officer. KODA is a distributor of specialty chemicals for paints and coatings, personal care, dyes, lubricants, construction, sealants and adhesives applications. Mr. Bergonzi, who has 29 years\u2019 experience in the chemicals industry, was recently the Director of Corporate Distribution at BASF. Earlier in his career, he held key management positions with Dow Chemical, Witco Corporation, OSi Specialties and Union Carbide.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/krenicki1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8488 alignright img-responsive lazyload\" title=\"krenicki1\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/krenicki1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"135\" height=\"135\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 135px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 135\/135;\" \/><\/a>John Krenicki, Jr.<\/strong> (B.S. Mechanical Engineering, \u201884), Vice Chairman of General Electric and the President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Energy, has been named a Senior Operating Partner with Clayton, Dubilier &amp; Rice, LLC effective January 2013. In his new role at CD&amp;R, Mr. Krenicki will join the firm\u2019s team of senior operating executives who are responsible for leading initiatives to help portfolio companies increase top-line growth, improve operating efficiency and build strong management teams, as well as identify and evaluate new investment opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fr.com\/michael-j-mckeon\/\">Michael McKeon<\/a><\/strong> (B.S. Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science &amp; Engineering, \u201990), a principal in Fish &amp; Richardson\u2019s IP Litigation Group in Washington, DC, was named one of 20 Washington, DC \u201cVisionaries\u201d in a highly regarded list of the National Law Journal\/Legal Times. He was selected for his role as one of a handful of top U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) attorneys at the forefront of shaping the legal landscape for intellectual property disputes. In addition to his capacity at Fish &amp; Richardson, he is an Adjunct Professor at the George Washington University Law School, where he received his J.D. degree.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nist.gov\/mml\/biochemical\/biomolecular\/jayne_morrow.cfm\">Jayne Billmayer Morrow<\/a><\/strong> (M.S., Ph.D. Civil &amp; Environmental Engineering, \u201901, \u201905), an Environmental Engineer in the Biochemical Science Division\/Bioassay Methods Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, was selected one of 96 recipients of the 2012 Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers. It is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.\u00a0Dr. Morrow was co-advised during her doctoral studies by former UConn professors Domenico Grasso and Barth Smets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Randall T. States<\/strong>, P.E. (B.S. Civil Engineering, 1997), has joined Nobis Engineering, Inc. as a Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer.\u00a0 He will work with Michael Baker Engineering, Inc. on a $567 million <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctfastrak.com\/index.php\/en\">CT<em>fastrak<\/em><\/a><\/strong> construction project involving development of a dedicated transit corridor to link New Britain and downtown Hartford. \u00a0In addition to construction of busway lanes, the project will involve the development of 11 stations and more than five miles of recreational trails and other improvements.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UConn engineering alumni Frank Bergonzi, John Krenicki, Michael McKeon, Jayne Morrow and Randall States are in the news!
