{"id":127758,"date":"2017-07-18T14:08:55","date_gmt":"2017-07-18T18:08:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?post_type=school-college-post&#038;p=127758"},"modified":"2017-07-18T14:08:55","modified_gmt":"2017-07-18T18:08:55","slug":"uconn-health-hosts-international-sports-medicine-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2017\/07\/uconn-health-hosts-international-sports-medicine-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"UConn Health Hosts International Sports Medicine Symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/patient-services\/orthopedics-sports-medicine\">UConn Health Orthopedics &amp; Sports Medicine<\/a> hosted its first International Sports Medicine Symposium on July 14.<\/p>\n<p>The Symposium gathered more than 50 sports medicine surgeons and researchers from across the United States and Europe to share the latest research advances enhancing care for patients with knee and shoulder conditions and injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The international conference developed out of the longstanding international sports medicine fellowship program at UConn Health established in 2010 by Dr. Augustus D. Mazzocca, chair the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.<\/p>\n<p>The one-year fellowship program, focusing on advancing translational research explorations, started with just one fellow and has grown to have eight fellows hailing from Germany, Japan, Switzerland and Austria.
