On Saturday, Oct. 14 the UConn Foundation Team<\/a> of runners finished the Eversource Hartford Marathon\u2019s various races. The runners helped raise thousands of dollars to support the work of UConn Health’s\u00a0Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center\u2019s <\/a>clinical care and research advancing the fight against heart disease.<\/p>\n

Couples Run<\/div>
\u201cThe half marathon was really an awesome experience,\u201d shared Kerry Cipriani, APRN of the Heart Rhythm Program at UConn Health who ran the race with her husband finishing at 2 hours and 40 minutes. \u201cThis was my first ever half marathon and the longest distance I have run to date. While challenging, with increasing distances each week, it was also something that we could do together as a team. While my husband runs almost twice as fast as I do normally, he stayed with me through the race and we crossed the finish line together. Honestly, this experience was one that I will remember with pride for some time.\u201d<\/div><\/div>\"Cheering<\/a>

\u201cAs a nurse practitioner in cardiology, where a lot of our focus is living a healthy lifestyle, it\u2019s always nice to \u2018practice what you preach\u2019,\u201d said Kerry Cipriani, APRN of the Calhoun Cardiology Center who was cheered on by her 3-year-old son during the big race as she ran by.<\/div><\/div>\"UConn<\/a>

UConn Health OB\/GYN Dr. Christopher Morosky finished his fifth Hartford Half Marathon in 2:01:00. \u201cIt was a beautiful race day,\u201d said Morosky. \u201cI saw lots of friends, patients, nurses, and colleagues in the race and lining the streets. The whole thing is really just so much fun, and I was happy to raise a little money for UConn Health with this year's run.\u201d<\/div><\/div>\"Heart<\/a>

"We had a great time," said Calhoun Cardiology Center patient Bill Donovan, heart attack and cardiac arrest survivor who ran the Hartford Half Marathon for the second time with his cardiologist.
