{"id":131163,"date":"2017-11-02T12:06:57","date_gmt":"2017-11-02T16:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?post_type=school-college-post&#038;p=131163"},"modified":"2017-11-03T09:33:17","modified_gmt":"2017-11-03T13:33:17","slug":"uconn-john-dempsey-hospital-top-ranked-patient-safety-three-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2017\/11\/uconn-john-dempsey-hospital-top-ranked-patient-safety-three-years\/","title":{"rendered":"UConn John Dempsey Hospital Top-Ranked in Patient Safety for Three Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the third consecutive year, UConn John Dempsey Hospital has been awarded the highest A-rating in patient safety by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hospitalsafetygrade.org\">The Leapfrog Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Receiving the top A-ranking in patient safety in 2015, 2016, and again in 2017 recognizes UConn John Dempsey\u2019s continued excellence in meeting the highest U.S. safety standards and keeping patients safe from medical errors, infections, and other harms.<\/p>\n<p>Of the more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals, UConn John Dempsey is amongst 832 hospitals earning an A in patient safety this year. The national nonprofit health care ratings organization, The Leapfrog Group,\u00a0assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals nationwide based on their performance. To assign grades, Leapfrog uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt takes consistent, unwavering dedication to patients to achieve the highest standards of patient safety,\u201d said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. \u201cAn \u2018A\u2019 Safety Grade recognizes hospitals for this accomplishment\u2026showing the country what it means to put patient safety first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the second year in a row, UConn John Dempsey will be honored by the <a href=\"https:\/\/nebgh.org\/\">Northeast Business Group on Health<\/a> (NEBGH) with the Leapfrog Patient Safety &amp; Quality Improvement Award for its substantial achievements in patient safety and high-quality care. The award will be presented on Nov. 29 at NEBGH\u2019s 4<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Leapfrog Hospital Awards breakfast.
