She has long been interested in\u00a0the social movements that arise out of\u00a0community-labor alliances. \u201cI believe that\u00a0labor and community need to coalesce\u00a0and work together, and that labor needs\u00a0to stand up for issues that are important\u00a0to communities as well,\u201d she explains.\u00a0\u201cFor example, the Fight for $15, about\u00a0raising the minimum wage, is a win-win\u00a0for working people and their communities.\u00a0It really changes lives.\u201d She recently\u00a0published an article on this issue in the\u00a0<em>Journal of Community Practic<\/em>e.\u00a0For the <em>Oxford Encyclopedia of Social\u00a0Work<\/em>, Dr. Simmons wrote the 2017 entry\u00a0on economic justice.
