Dr.\u00a0<\/span>Nina\u00a0<\/span>Heller, Professor of Social Work,\u00a0<\/span>was appointed Interim Dean of\u00a0<\/span>the School of Social Work\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>July\u00a0<\/span>2015, and she was appointed to the permanent position in July 2016. Under her\u00a0<\/span>leadership\u00a0<\/span>as Dean,\u00a0<\/span>Nina\u00a0<\/span>has\u00a0<\/span>successfully relocated the School of Social Work from West Hartford to Hartford, established a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, and gained the respect of faculty and colleagues from across the University<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Dean\u00a0<\/span>Heller\u00a0<\/span>has also contributed to UConn in many ways that serve the broader university, notably\u00a0<\/span>her\u00a0<\/span>role\u00a0<\/span>as Interim Director of the Hartford Campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As Dean\u00a0<\/span>Heller\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>initial\u00a0<\/span>three\u00a0<\/span>year term drew to a close during the Spring semester, I charged a review committee to evaluate her\u00a0performance. Having received uniformly positive support for Dean Heller\u2019s leadership and character, I am delighted to inform you that I have offered, and Dean\u00a0<\/span>Heller\u00a0<\/span>has accepted, an extension of her\u00a0<\/span>term as\u00a0<\/span>Dean\u00a0<\/span>for five years.<\/span><\/p>\n

I am grateful to the committee chair,\u00a0<\/span>Interim\u00a0<\/span>Dean\u00a0<\/span>Davita Glasberg, and the review committee consisting of\u00a0<\/span>Preston Britner of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Caitlin Elsaesser, Scott Harding, Beth Sharkey, and Louise Simmons of the School of Social Work\u00a0<\/span>for their thorough work on this review.<\/span><\/p>\n
