This May UConn Health\u2019s deans for UConn School of Medicine and UConn School of Dental Medicine were both honored for their significant contributions to the State of Connecticut.<\/p>\n

Dean Dr. Bruce Liang<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Dr. Bruce T. Liang,<\/a><\/strong> dean of UConn\u2019s medical school, was recognized on May 5 by The Asian Pacific American Coalition of Connecticut (APAC-CT) for his significant contributions to the welfare of the state\u2019s Asian Pacific American community.<\/p>\n

Liang was honored at the 11th Annual APAC Gala, an annual event celebrating Asian American Heritage Month. Liang served as the gala event\u2019s keynote speaker. Other honorees included U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, former State Rep. David McCluskey, and Theanvy Kuoch, the executive director of Khmer Health Advocates, Inc.<\/p>\n

APAC\u2019s mission is to engage in advocacy, education, outreach, interagency and community collaboration to improve the well\u2010being of the state\u2019s Asian Pacific American community.<\/p>\n

Dean Dr. Monty MacNeil<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Dr. R. Lamont \u201cMonty\u201d MacNeil<\/a><\/strong>, dean of UConn\u2019s dental school, was honored by the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA) at its annual meeting held May 9-11 for his outstanding contributions and dedication to the CSDA and the profession of dentistry. He was especially honored for his longtime service as dean of UConn School of Dental Medicine.<\/p>\n

MacNeil received The Fones Medal, the CSDA\u2019s top award. The honor is presented annually to an individual in recognition of their outstanding contributions, achievement and dedication to the science and\/or practice of dentistry.<\/p>\n

The statewide, professional membership organization represents Connecticut licensed dentists and staff who are committed to protecting the health and well-being of people of all ages. The CSDA\u2019s mission supports the professional success of its members and assists them in providing optimal care to their patients.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
