{"id":139955,"date":"2018-07-25T09:53:10","date_gmt":"2018-07-25T13:53:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?post_type=school-college-post&#038;p=139955"},"modified":"2018-07-25T09:53:10","modified_gmt":"2018-07-25T13:53:10","slug":"post-baccalaureate-certificate-program-prepares-workplace-health-safety-professionals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2018\/07\/post-baccalaureate-certificate-program-prepares-workplace-health-safety-professionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Post-baccalaureate certificate program prepares workplace health and safety professionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Allied Health Sciences Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/osh.uconn.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Online Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program<\/a>\u00a0is designed for professionals chosen to oversee OSH at their place of work, as well as those seeking a career change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve designed this program to give students the academic underpinning to really understand health and safety in the workplace and give them the skill set to help better perform in their assigned duties, as well as to assist those looking to get into the profession,\u201d says\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alliedhealth.uconn.edu\/faculty\/bureau-paul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Bureau<\/a>, program director.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can honestly say that I wouldn\u2019t be here\u2014in this field, position, or life, without this program,\u201d says Stephanie Cowan, occupational safety consultant in Athens, Georgia. \u201cI cannot say how much I enjoyed my time in the post-bac program, how much I\u2019ve learned and how much the instructors changed my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-12162\"><\/span>The program consists of five three-credit courses that cover a broad spectrum of workplace health and safety issues and include three core courses and two electives in areas such as ergonomics or workman\u2019s compensation.
