The School of Engineering welcomes Teresa Barber-Tournaud, who joined the Center for Clean Energy Engineering<\/a> (C2E2) at UConn as Program Director in December 2012. She replaces Tricia Bergman, who served with distinction in that role from the center’s earliest days.<\/p>\n

\"TBT2\"<\/a>Ms. Barber-Tournaud comes to UConn with 20 years\u2019 experience at United Technologies Corporation, where she held positions of increasing responsibility with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Hamilton Sundstrand (now UTC Aerospace Systems), UTC Research Center, UTC Industrial Lasers and the International Aero Engines consortium under Pratt & Whitney.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Ms. Barber-Tournaud was a Program Manager with Pratt & Whitney, where her duties spanned areas of strategic partnership alliances, product development, and collaborative project management.\u00a0As Program Manager, she negotiated and closed a multi-million deal with a risk-revenue sharing partner to deliver an advanced gear system and engine core that improves efficiency, emissions and noise while significantly lowering maintenance costs for the customer; executed a partnership agreement consisting of collaborative project management activities to meet financial goals; and delivered cost reduction objectives within budget, resulting in significant annual savings in shop visits.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier in her career, Ms. Barber-Tournaud served as a Business Manager with Hamilton Sundstrand; in leadership positions involving supplier quality, procurement, continuous improvement and manufacturing engineering with Pratt & Whitney; as Maintenance\/Production Supervisor\/Engineer with Stanley Tools; and as a Field Service Engineer\/Instructor\/EH&S Officer with United Technologies Industrial Lasers.<\/p>\n

Throughout her career, notes C2E2 Director Dr. Prabhakar Singh, Ms. Barber-Tournaud has demonstrated leadership in program and business management, commitment to fostering team building and collaborative program development that leads to a cross-functional matrix organization for meeting company and contractual goals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ms. Barber-Tournaud received her B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Hartford, and a master\u2019s degree in Management as well as an MBA, from Albertus Magnus College.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
