{"id":144545,"date":"2019-01-14T09:18:28","date_gmt":"2019-01-14T14:18:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?post_type=school-college-post&#038;p=144545"},"modified":"2019-11-22T14:46:56","modified_gmt":"2019-11-22T19:46:56","slug":"shreya-kulkarni-baxter-young-investigator-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2019\/01\/shreya-kulkarni-baxter-young-investigator-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Shreya Kulkarni, Ph.D. candidate, awarded Baxter Young Investigator Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shreya Kulkarni, a multi award winning* Ph.D. candidate in the School of Pharmacy&#8217;s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, recently received Baxter Pharmaceutical&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baxter.com\/our-story\/fueling-collaborative-innovation\/baxter-young-investigator-awards\">Young Investigator Award<\/a> in Deerfield, Illinois at Baxter International&#8217;s headquarters. Kulkarni presented her research\u00a0<em>Factors Governing the Reconstitution Time of Highly Concentrated Lypophilized Protein Formulations\u00a0<\/em>at the awards presentation, accompanied by her advisor Robin Bogner, Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Baxter&#8217;s prestigious award is not limited to a specific area of research, so the competition is broad,\u00a0open to both graduate students and post docs. Winners are selected in part due to a match of their research with the interests of the company. There are only six tier 1 awards, such as the one Kulkarni received, given out annually. None of this would have been possible without the continued support and guidance from my advisor Professor Robin Bogner.\u00a0Dr. Bogner has been instrumental in motivating me to delve deeper into every research problem. I would also like to thank\u00a0my thesis committee and our collaborators for the helpful discussions and suggestions on my thesis research.\u00a0I feel very lucky to be part of the Pharmaceutics program at UConn!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the trip to Illinois, she says &#8220;The award ceremony\u00a0at the corporate headquarters of\u00a0Baxter in Illinois was a wonderful experience.
