{"id":145728,"date":"2019-02-04T09:09:29","date_gmt":"2019-02-04T14:09:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=145728"},"modified":"2019-02-04T10:39:28","modified_gmt":"2019-02-04T15:39:28","slug":"uconn-board-vote-tuesday-appointing-next-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2019\/02\/uconn-board-vote-tuesday-appointing-next-president\/","title":{"rendered":"UConn Board to Vote Tuesday on Appointing Next President"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UConn Board of Trustees has scheduled a special meeting Tuesday morning to consider and vote on the appointment of the University\u2019s 16th president.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the North Reading Room of the Wilbur Cross Building at UConn Storrs, and will be live-streamed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UConn\/\">UConn\u2019s Facebook page<\/a>. Viewers do not need to have a Facebook account to be able to watch the live stream.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/boardoftrustees.uconn.edu\/board-agenda\/\">Trustees are scheduled to consider the appointment<\/a> of a recommended finalist in the competitive national search that was launched last summer with the creation of a 44-member search committee. The next president will succeed President Susan Herbst, who <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2018\/05\/herbst-step-president-summer-2019\/\">announced<\/a> last year that she will return to the faculty this summer after eight years in the position.<\/p>\n<p>The University has not released specifics about candidates who applied or were interviewed. The recommended finalist has met with Gov.
