An unusual exhibition of front-line photography and war reporting is on display at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center through March 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the Crosshairs: Dispatches from Central America, 1983-90\u201d brings together the photography and field reports of UConn journalism professor Scott Wallace, who was a reporter in the war zones of El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala in the 1980s.<\/p>\n

During that time, the U.S. waged a Vietnam-style counterinsurgency against leftist rebels, training and equipping the Contra rebels as they sought to overthrow the revolutionary Sandinista government. The exhibit includes color and black & white photographs from the front lines of those countries, text panels, audio and multimedia clips, equipment, posters, and other artifacts from the era.<\/p>\n

Wallace covered wars for CBS News,\u00a0Newsweek<\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>the\u00a0Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/em>, and\u00a0The\u00a0<\/em> Guardian<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Independent\u00a0<\/em>of London. He also continues to write for National Geographic<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n

Today, Feb. 20, Wallace will participate in a panel discussion at 4 p.m. at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center with\u00a0New Yorker\u00a0<\/em>writer Jon Lee Anderson, and Robert Nickelsberg, a TIME<\/em> magazine photographer for 25 years.<\/p>\n
