{"id":146635,"date":"2019-03-14T11:15:57","date_gmt":"2019-03-14T15:15:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?post_type=school-college-post&#038;p=146635"},"modified":"2019-03-14T11:15:57","modified_gmt":"2019-03-14T15:15:57","slug":"caric-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2019\/03\/caric-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"OVPR Announces Inaugural Convergence Awards for Research in Interdisciplinary Centers (CARIC) Recipients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Office of the Vice President for Research recently announced the two teams selected for funding in the inaugural cycle of CARIC (Convergence Awards for Research in Interdisciplinary Centers).<\/p>\n<p>CARIC supports the development of collaborative, interdisciplinary teams bidding for major federally funded research initiatives. These initiatives can include large, multi-million-dollar research grants or research centers.<\/p>\n<p>2019 CARIC Awards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>David Rowe, director of the Center for Regenerative Medicine and Skeletal Development<br \/>\n<em>Bed to Bench (BTB) Collaboration for Skeletal Research<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Yu Lei, Castleman Distinguished Professor, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering<br \/>\n<em>Exposure, Health Effects, Sensing and Remediation of Emerging Contaminants Superfund Research Program (SRP) Center<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program will provide these projects with funding of up to $150,000 to support planning, outreach to strategic partners and proof-of-concept research for a year, with the possibility for renewal.
