admissions<\/a> website has been updated so applicants can log in and check their status.<\/p>\nUConn\u2019s admissions office was a whirl of activity throughout much of the week, as employees worked together to stack, fold, stuff, and sort thousands of application responses to get them out in the mail.<\/p>\n
The majority aren\u2019t traveling far, since Connecticut applications remained strong this year and most being offered admission are in-state students. Others are going around the country to Florida, California, and other states \u2013 and even as far away as Mumbai and Shanghai.<\/p>\n
\u201cUConn is truly a global university, and we can all be proud of the interest it attracts from talented students around the world,\u201d said Vern Granger, UConn\u2019s director of undergraduate admissions. \u201cWith that being said, as the flagship institution of the state of Connecticut, in-state students remain our number one focus in trying to build an academically strong and diverse freshman class.\u201d<\/p>\n
Once all is said and done, the University expects to welcome about 3,700 new freshmen to Storrs for the fall semester. Students seeking to enroll at the campuses in Hartford, Stamford, Waterbury, and Avery Point have until May 1 to submit their applications.<\/p>\n
