{"id":146685,"date":"2019-02-20T08:30:30","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T13:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=146685"},"modified":"2023-06-27T13:02:57","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T17:02:57","slug":"student-wrapped-farmhouse-crepes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2019\/02\/student-wrapped-farmhouse-crepes\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Wrapped up in Farmhouse Crepes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Things haven\u2019t always gone as expected for economics major and local business owner Tahj-Anthony Jean \u201919 (CLAS), but at every fork in the road he\u2019s made the choice to take action toward his dreams, he says.<\/p>\n<p>Jean (n\u00e9e Wilson), the owner of Farmhouse Crepes in Downtown Storrs, came to UConn as a freshman in 2015 as a student-athlete on the football team, with his sights set on gaining admission into the School of Business to gain the knowledge needed to succeed as an entrepreneur. Running his own business is in his blood \u2013 as a 13-year-old, he built his own computer, and in high school, he started an iPhone repair business. Once at UConn, he decided to open his own restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>When he wasn\u2019t accepted to the business school, Jean says, he became even more determined to succeed as an entrepreneur. And getting his business off the ground led to the difficult choice to leave the football team.
