Saturday, September 28 brought a beautiful fall day for reunion weekend here at UConn. The School of Pharmacy’s consulting Master Gardener Diana Sanzione held special tours of the newly planted medicinal garden and student ambassadors showcased some of the pharmacy building’s newest features. The day capped off with an awards ceremony honoring three talented alums doing tremendous work in pharmacy. They are:\u00a0Andrew Bzowyckyj (Pharm.D. ’09),\u00a0Betsy Sleath (CLAS ’88, PHARM ’88), and\u00a0Mohamed Mohamed (PHARM ’89).<\/p>\n

Andrew Bzowyckyj received the Tradition of Excellence Award at this year\u2019s ceremony. Bzowyckyj is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and Certified Diabetes Educator whose teaching and research interests include diabetes and related conditions, health economics and policy, and curricular design and assessment. In his free time, Bzowyckyj\u00a0finds joy in long-distance running with the goal of completing a marathon in each US state.<\/p>\n

Professor Betsy Sleath was awarded the Distinguished Pharmacy Alumnus award for her notable presence in the profession of pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences. Currently, Sleath is the George H. Cocolas Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Her work is focused on improving patient health outcomes by increasing patient involvement during medical visits.<\/p>\n

Mohamed Mohamed was awarded the Exceptional Service Award for his contributions to the School of Pharmacy community. He is currently a pharmacy manager and team leader in Glastonbury, Conn. with CVS Health. He has also served as an adjunct assistant professor of pharmacy practice with the UConn School of Pharmacy, assisting students during both Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
