Diana M. Sobieraj, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, and her co-authors, are recipients of the 2019 American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP) Foundation Literature Awards Program: Drug Therapy Research Award. This award recognizes outstanding original research contributions to peer-reviewed biomedical literature addressing the therapeutic uses of medications, published in the preceding year.<\/p>\n

Sobieraj and team’s article appeared in the April 2018 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association and was titled, Association of Inhaled Corticosteroids and Long-Acting Muscarinic Antagonists with Asthma Control in Patients with Uncontrolled, Persistent Asthma.<\/a> <\/em>The award was presented at the ASHP\u2019s Annual Meeting in Las Vegas on December 8.<\/p>\n

The work of Sobieraj and her colleagues is being used to update national practice guidelines of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute in the treatment of asthma and promises to directly impact individuals suffering from this disease.<\/p>\n

In accepting the award, Sobieraj said, \u201cThis honor is especially meaningful because it acknowledges the work of a dedicated team of people who are committed to turning evidence-based research into practical treatment applications for the millions of people who suffer from asthma.
