UConn students can now be tested for the COVID-19 virus on the Storrs campus in a familiar and friendly location through Student Health and Wellness (SHaW).<\/p>\n

The testing will take place out of the UConn Dairy Bar Truck, which will be parked behind the Hilda May Williams Student Health Services Building on Glenbrook Road.<\/p>\n

It is anticipated that testing will be done once a week for a four-hour period.\u00a0 It started Tuesday, April 7, and will take place again on Tuesday, April 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The testing is open to all undergraduate and graduate students on the Storrs campus.<\/p>\n

Testing is available by appointment and can be made by calling 860-486-4700. Students will first be assessed through a telehealth appointment with a SHaW medical provider. Testing will then be ordered per guidelines of the Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n

The testing is being performed by Quest Diagnostics and results will be reported to the students by SHaW medical staff.<\/p>\n

Testing will be done on both a drive-through basis and for those who walk to the site. These appointment types will not be comingled. Drive-through tests will be conducted with students staying in their automobile and walk-up testing will take place in the same designated area behind the Hilda May building.<\/p>\n

Students should wear a facemask to the testing if they have one. All students who are tested will be provided with a new facemask and self-isolation instructions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are so many different areas of the University to thank for getting this testing available to our students,\u201d says Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Eleanor Daugherty. \u201cOur SHaW staff, like all health care professionals, have been on the front line of COVID-19 right from the beginning and are performing with great skill and selflessness.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also want to thank UConn Dining Service for the use of the Dairy Bar truck, but I can\u2019t wait until it is back for its intended use! UConn Parking Services and Public Safety have provide great assistance. In addition, the staff of Facilities Operations and the Cogeneration Plant, specifically, deserve our thanks.
