On May 9 UConn’s School of \u00a0Pharmacy graduated 163 pharmacy students, conferring degrees (virtually via UConn’s feed) to four Doctors of Philosophy, seventy-four Doctors of Philosophy, and eight-five Bachelors of Science. It was a historic celebration caused by COVID-19 restrictions that worked to pull students and families across the globe together online to celebrate the achievements of our future pharmacists and researchers.<\/p>\n

“While I wish we could come together today in person to celebrate your accomplishments and this milestone in your academic careers, I am thankful for everything we do have: our incredibly supportive pharmacy “phamily” and our families, friends, faculty and staff who have supported you throughout your time at our School of Pharmacy,” said Philip Hritcko, Interim Dean and Associate Clinical Professor in his online Commencement address. “We want to express our enormous pride in all that you have accomplished in reaching your milestones, whether still on your journey, or at the threshold of your career.”<\/p>\n

The School of Pharmacy’s Commencement web page also featured a Commencement speech from Thomas Menighan<\/a>, APhA VP, CEO, a message from Peter Tyczkowski, ’78, President of the UConn Pharmacy Alumni Association, and a montage of well wishes from School of Pharmacy faculty as well as student degrees, awards, tracks and photos.<\/p>\n

\"Congratulations<\/a>“The pandemic has shown us the importance of community \u2013 even when distanced – \u00a0and reaching out to each other during challenging times,” said Hritcko in his final message. \u00a0“Hopefully, we can all take some positives out of this experience and better understand the value of our relationships and keep in contact, supporting each other beyond this time and throughout our lives, through the ups and downs. Together apart. I am confident that this will not be long but the value of staying connected when apart has absolutely been impressed on me.”<\/p>\n
