{"id":162022,"date":"2020-06-19T11:59:54","date_gmt":"2020-06-19T15:59:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=162022"},"modified":"2020-06-19T11:59:54","modified_gmt":"2020-06-19T15:59:54","slug":"stanley-black-decker-hartford-foundation-donate-100000-uconn-health-frontline-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2020\/06\/stanley-black-decker-hartford-foundation-donate-100000-uconn-health-frontline-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Stanley Black &#038; Decker, Hartford Foundation Donate $100,000 to UConn Health Frontline Workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stanley Black &amp; Decker and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving recently donated a total of $100,000 to UConn Health to support health care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle.<\/p>\n<p>Each gave $50,000 to help buy personal protective equipment (PPE) and pay for several weeks of childcare support and temporary housing for UConn employees while they treat patients with the coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>As part of Stanley Black &amp; Decker\u2019s gift, employees in the company\u2019s Asian Heritage Network resource group donated $2,500 worth of personal protective equipment, including 6,800 masks, gloves, and surface sanitizer.<\/p>\n<p>The financial gifts helped pay for about 10 weeks of childcare as well as temporary lodging for UConn Health employees on the frontlines. Specifically, it paid for lodging at two local hotels for about 30 employees who did not have COVID-19 symptoms but feared exposing high-risk family members to the virus, said Janel Simpson, chief administrative officer of UConn Health.
