The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has caused immeasurable heartache; disrupted everyday life; and changed the way we think about education, work, and social interaction \u2013 and we know how scary, frustrating, and overwhelming it is for our UConn community. So, we hope that everyone can take a pause and enjoy this brief moment of levity \u2013 peppered throughout with helpful links to formal guidance, video PSAs, and other tools to help our students, faculty, and staff stay safe \u2013 as we prepare for the work ahead of us all this semester.<\/em><\/p>\n

Welcome back, our dear Huskies,
\nAnd please listen right here.
\nWe\u2019re about to begin
\nAnother new year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While you\u2019ve been home waiting
\nIn your quarantine,
\nOur staff have been busy
\nGiving campus a deep clean,<\/p>\n

Opening labs<\/a>,
\nPreparing lecture halls,
\nReadying lesson plans,
\nAdding signs to the walls,<\/p>\n

So that we will be ready
\nFor when you return,
\nEager to study,
\nTo grow, and to learn.<\/p>\n

This year will be different,
\nWe all know that it\u2019s true,
\nSo we have some advice
\nTo help all of you.<\/p>\n

Keep washing your hands,
\nAnd stay six feet apart.
\nWearing a mask<\/a> all the time
\nIs a start.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re feeling unwell,
\nPlease keep yourself home,
\nAnd if you\u2019re just feeling restless
\nGo outdoors to roam!<\/p>\n

There are trails around campus
\nThat you\u2019ve probably missed.
\nGo enjoy that fresh air,
\nIt can only assist!<\/p>\n

Our buses and shuttles
\nCan move you about.
\nThere are new ways to ride<\/a>, though,
\nSo just ask if in doubt.<\/p>\n

Going home on the weekend
\nIs a real bad idea.
\nBut who needs to travel
\nWith all we have here?<\/p>\n

The Dairy Bar is open,
\nJust order ahead<\/a>,
\nOr plan a study picnic
\nOn Horsebarn Hill instead.<\/p>\n

The Rec Center is for you,
\nJust please do take note
\nThat there are some new rules<\/a>
\nTo help keep things afloat.<\/p>\n

Dining Services will be ready
\nWith grab-and-go options
\nSo you won\u2019t miss out
\nOn their tasty concoctions.<\/p>\n

The Dean of Students has resources<\/a>
\nTo help guide your way
\nAnd make it easier to keep safe
\nAs you go about your day.<\/p>\n

There will still be events,
\nAnd clubs are still meeting.
\nJust gather responsibly,
\nSkip the handshakes when greeting.<\/p>\n

Student Health will be testing<\/a>
\nFor that nasty virus.
\nJust a quick swab or some saliva
\nWill help to protect us.<\/p>\n

A lot of staff will be home
\nStill telecommuting
\nBut they\u2019re right there to help you
\nIf something isn\u2019t computing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nTo do these things better.
\nPrez TK<\/a> and Provost Carl<\/a> want to hear from you,

Whether you\u2019re in Groton or Storrs,
\nOr learning remote,
\nWaterbury, Hartford, or Stamford,
\nWe\u2019re all in the same boat.<\/p>\n

So, our dear Huskies,
