{"id":168014,"date":"2021-01-15T14:44:42","date_gmt":"2021-01-15T19:44:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=168014"},"modified":"2021-01-15T14:54:30","modified_gmt":"2021-01-15T19:54:30","slug":"love-vaccinations-75-farmington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2021\/01\/love-vaccinations-75-farmington\/","title":{"rendered":"Love and Vaccinations for 75+ in Farmington"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s like Valentine\u2019s Day being celebrated early at UConn Health\u2019s Outpatient Pavilion COVID-19 Vaccine Pedestrian Site with some of the first eligible 75 years of age or older individuals getting vaccinated including married couples.<\/p>\n<p>Couples have been making online or phone appointments to be vaccinated together, some who have been married for more than 50 years, and the bliss continues with joy and relief of getting the shots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a date,\u201d laughed Charlie Cobb, 78, with his wife Jeanne, 77 of Avon who have been married for 56 years. \u201cIt\u2019s a sense of relief. We have grandchildren, and they miss hugging us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And UConn Health\u2019s online sign up process was easy the Cobbs report. \u201cI got the email from UConn saying we could sign up, and I looked online, and oh my gosh I could get one,\u201d shared Jeanne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was so easy,\u201d says Charlie. \u201cEveryone is so nice and accommodating here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel great and very happy. I\u2019m looking forward to hugging my children and grandchildren,\u201d says Jeanne. \u201cI haven\u2019t done that since March.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic. I am feeling great,\u201d says Charlie after his first dose and looks forward to his second dose in a few weeks. \u201cI feel very relieved. This will allow us to do some hugging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Charlie\u2019s message to others: \u201cThe virus has been weighing on everyone\u2019s minds. We lost a few friends. Get your vaccine. Lester, 78 and Judith, 75\u00a0 have been married for nearly 54 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo it,\u201d says Lester. \u201cOr check with your doctor if you have any concerns at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs soon as we got notice from the Governor we signed up,\u201d shared Judith who reports she called UConn Health\u2019s COVID-19 Program by phone to schedule her and her husband\u2019s vaccinations. The scheduling phone line is <em><strong><a href=\"tel:860-679-5589\">860-679-5589<\/a><\/strong><\/em>. \u201cAnd here we are at UConn Health, and the process was so incredibly efficient, I can\u2019t say enough. It\u2019s been a great experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel good. In addition to expanding its <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/coronavirus\/covid-vaccine\/\">online scheduling tool<\/a><\/strong> for this newly eligible patient population, UConn Health launched a new <strong>COVID-19 Vaccine Scheduling Line at: <em><a href=\"tel:860-679-5589\">860-679-5589<\/a><\/em><\/strong><em>. <\/em>The 860-679-8888 COVID-19 Vaccine Program general phone line can be used for any general questions or issues of those getting vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Fine, 81, of West Hartford also got his COVID-19 vaccine at UConn Health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a piece of cake. I went in on my computer to UConn to sign up, and the rest was easy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel wonderful, and very mentally and emotionally relieved,\u201d says Fine who shared why he and his wife are choosing to get vaccinated. \u201cWe want to stick around for a long time. This is one step toward prevention. It\u2019s wonderful, and this vaccine is what I have been praying for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust do it,\u201d says Glaski. \u201cIf you want to live get your shot. I haven\u2019t gone anywhere. We have to get out of this prison. I can\u2019t wait to hug my great, great granddaughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patty Drzata, 78, of Burlington also signed up online for her appointment via her UConn Health MyChart account and received her vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so happy and excited,&#8221; says Drzata. &#8220;It\u2019s a blessing, as my husband and I both have underlying conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Drzata stresses: \u201cI hope everyone will get the vaccine.
