{"id":168420,"date":"2021-01-26T07:20:18","date_gmt":"2021-01-26T12:20:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=168420"},"modified":"2021-01-25T16:26:17","modified_gmt":"2021-01-25T21:26:17","slug":"nursing-ranks-top-15-online-masters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2021\/01\/nursing-ranks-top-15-online-masters\/","title":{"rendered":"School of Nursing Ranks Among Top 15 Online Master\u2019s Programs for 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em> has released its 2021 rankings for the best online nursing master\u2019s programs in the country, and the UConn School of Nursing tied for No. 14.<\/p>\n<p>It is also the No. 2 online nursing master\u2019s program in New England, ranking behind only the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.<\/p>\n<p>This is the UConn School of Nursing\u2019s first time landing a spot in <em>U.S. News\u2019 <\/em>top 20 in the nation. Last year, it tied for No. 82.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis recognition from <em>U.S. News<\/em> is a direct result of the hard work of our amazing faculty and students here at the School of Nursing,\u201d Dean Deborah Chyun says. \u201cTheir dedication to excellence placed our master\u2019s program among the best in the nation, producing outstanding advanced practice nurses to serve our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the School of Nursing\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/neonatal-nursing.online.uconn.edu\/\">neonatal nurse practitioner concentration<\/a> for the master\u2019s program is delivered fully online. All of its other master\u2019s program concentrations \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/fnp.online.uconn.edu\/?utm_source=nursing%20home%20tile&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=online_nursing_site\">family nurse practitioner<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/acutecare-nursing.online.uconn.edu\/?utm_source=nursing%20home%20tile&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=online_nursing_site\">adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/nursing.online.uconn.edu\/adult-gerontology-primary-care\/\">adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/nurse-educator-masters.online.uconn.edu\/?utm_source=nursing%20home%20tile&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=online_nursing_site\">nurse educator<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/nurse-leader-masters.online.uconn.edu\/?utm_source=nursing%20home%20tile&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=online_nursing_site\">nurse leader<\/a> \u2014 are in the process of transitioning to a fully online format.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe could not have such a successful online master\u2019s program without the support and guidance we receive from the <a href=\"https:\/\/cetl.uconn.edu\/\">Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning<\/a>,\u201d Chyun says.<\/p>\n<p>In creating its rankings, <em>U.S. News<\/em> focuses on five categories: student engagement with classmates and instructors; faculty credentials and training; opinions from academic officials in nursing; services and technologies offered; and student excellence.<\/p>\n<p>For the 2021 online nursing master\u2019s rankings, 194 programs across the country were evaluated. To be considered, the programs had to meet <em>U.S. News<\/em>\u2019 definition of a distance education nursing program, which requires \u201cthe vast majority of required nonclinical coursework for program completion is able to be completed via distance education courses that incorporate internet-based learning technologies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Find the complete list of the 2021 <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em> Best Online Master\u2019s in Nursing Programs rankings <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/education\/online-education\/nursing\">online<\/a>.
