The UConn School of Pharmacy Pharm.D. class of 2021 has selected Visiting Professor Jeannette Wick as the 2021 School of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year. “This honor is well deserved and shows Jeannette\u2019s passion and commitment to her students,” says Philip Hritcko, School of Pharmacy Dean.<\/p>\n
Wick has a diverse career background, spending 25 years in the U.S. Public Health Service before coming to UConn. She worked in psychiatry while on active duty and then transferred to the National Cancer Institute where she managed a portfolio of investigational drugs and biologics. Freelance medical writing has been part of Jeannette\u2019s career for decades and she has written on numerous diseases and medications. Additionally, Wick has always been interested in management and supervision and has written extensively on those topics as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis award took me by surprise, and I am truly honored,\u201d says Wick. \u201cWorking with pharmacy students is simply so much fun\u2026 I often wonder if students learn as much from me as I do from them, and I so appreciate their willingness to laugh while we learn.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cJeanette is an amazing woman who cares deeply about student success but also pushes them outside their comfort zone to be their best,” says C. Michael White, Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. “High expectations with strong support is Jeanette\u2019s recipe for success.\u201d<\/p>\n
