Both of my parents went to UConn, though I’m the first one at the UConn School of Engineering. I just felt like UConn was a great balance of a solid engineering education while maintaining the diversity of a larger university. I didn’t want to be surrounded by only engineers.

What’s your major and why did you choose it?
I am a mechanical engineering major with a concentration in design and manufacturing. I was actually accepted to UConn as a PNB major, but I ended up switching because of how much I enjoyed a robotics class I took senior year of high school. Before that, I had never really considered the possibility of engineering. Looking back, it was a fantastic choice and I’m so glad I decided to take that leap.

What are your plans after graduation?
I’m going to be moving all the way out to Arizona! I’ll be working as a manufacturing engineer for Raytheon Missiles & Defense. It’s going to be a big change but I’m ready for it. I’m also very excited to start my career and put my education into practice.

What activities were you involved with as a student?
I was involved in formula SAE as a freshman and sophomore. I was also a member of the Engineering House Learning Community starting my sophomore year and have worked with EDOC as a SPARK counselor for two years. I also worked as an IT support specialist for ITS. Finally, I’ve been a member of Phi Sigma Rho sorority for four years.

What’s one thing every student should do during their time at UConn?
I think every student should go to a UConn game. It doesn’t matter what sport! I’ve always loved the feeling of cheering on our team surrounded by other students. Personally, I’d recommend checking out a bunch of different sports. The games are often free and always a good time.

Who was your favorite professor and why?
Bryan Weber is such a dedicated professor and really put in so much effort to try and help us get excited about engineering. His classes were always extremely enjoyable and rewarding. Georgios “George” Matheou was another professor who put in an incredible amount of effort and really connected with the students. I’m so glad I was able to take classes with these two.

[1
[117
post-171328","post","type-post","status-publish","format-quote","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","post_format-post-format-quote
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
