In early October, she \u2013 along with three School of Nursing alumnae \u2013 will also become a fellow of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aannet.org\/\">American Academy of Nursing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The honorific society recognizes nursing&#8217;s most accomplished leaders in policy, research, practice, administration, and academia. Her work is elevating educational programming for primary care nurse practitioners, thereby creating a workforce ready to care for the complex needs of medically underserved populations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am thrilled the Academy has selected Annette as a member of its 2021 Class of new fellows,\u201d Dean Deborah Chyun says. \u201cHer scholarship addresses important societal issues that the Academy is working to improve: the need for more advanced practice nurses and for equitable care for underserved populations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alumnae Jaclyn Conelius &#8217;10 Ph.D., Olga Jarr\u00edn Montaner \u201902 (NUR), \u201907 MS, \u201911 Ph.D., and Dorothy Vittner \u201916 Ph.D. were also selected as 2021 fellows, following a competitive, rigorous application process. In total, <a href=\"https:\/\/higherlogicdownload.s3.amazonaws.com\/AANNET\/c8a8da9e-918c-4dae-b0c6-6d630c46007f\/UploadedImages\/2021_American_Academy_of_Nursing_New_Fellow_Press_Release.pdf\">225 individuals<\/a> representing 38 states and 18 countries will be inducted in early October.<\/p>\n<p>Induction into the fellowship represents more than just recognition of one&#8217;s accomplishments within the nursing profession.
