{"id":178560,"date":"2021-10-22T09:54:48","date_gmt":"2021-10-22T13:54:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=178560"},"modified":"2023-06-27T12:05:34","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T16:05:34","slug":"uconn-faculty-staff-students-and-alumni-honored-by-naacp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2021\/10\/uconn-faculty-staff-students-and-alumni-honored-by-naacp\/","title":{"rendered":"UConn Faculty, Staff, Students and Alumni Honored by NAACP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UConn will be well represented when the Connecticut NAACP branches play host to a reception to honor the \u201c100 Most Influential Blacks in the State of Connecticut.\u201d The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Foxwoods Resort Casino and feature entertainment by rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur Nas.<\/p>\n<p>The 100 Most Influential Blacks in Connecticut Award Ceremony will celebrate many renowned influencers, while also recognizing community leaders and industry trailblazers who often go unrecognized for their exceptional work in the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am incredibly proud of the fact that so many distinguished members of the UConn family are being honored by the state NAACP,\u201d says UConn President Andrew Agwunobi. \u201cThese leaders make extraordinary contributions to our university and our state every day and are vital to the rich, diverse cultural landscape we have in Connecticut.
