{"id":183842,"date":"2022-04-05T14:16:09","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T18:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=183842"},"modified":"2022-04-05T14:16:09","modified_gmt":"2022-04-05T18:16:09","slug":"amy-antipas-to-speak-at-uconn-pharmacy-bs-commencement-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2022\/04\/amy-antipas-to-speak-at-uconn-pharmacy-bs-commencement-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Amy Antipas to Speak at UConn Pharmacy BS Commencement 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Amy Antipas, MA, Ph.D., Senior Director of Drug Product Design at Pfizer Worldwide Research, Development and Medicine, will be the commencement speaker for the UConn School of Pharmacy\u2019s BS in Pharmacy Studies class of 2022. She will speak on Sunday, May 8 at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts in Storrs where the ceremony will take place. Antipas is a 1989 Honors graduate of the School of Pharmacy, a former chair of its Advisory Board, and current active member.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Antipas has pursued her passion for research and creating patient-centric medications over the last twenty-seven years at Pfizer in Groton, Connecticut. Her experience spans from influencing the drug delivery and molecular structure of new drug candidates and designing early clinical formulations, to filing new drug applications for breakthrough therapies. Her work enabled the development of Chantix\u00ae, Xeljanz\u00ae and Slentrol\u00ae. Most recently, as (former) chair of our Advisory Board,\u00a0 she\u00a0 guided us with a close eye to crucial initiatives, helping us to maintain our high standards and competitive edge throughout the pandemic,\u201d says Philip Hritcko, Dean of the School of Pharmacy. \u201cOur BS class will undoubtedly be excited to hear from an alum that is so committed to UConn while leading critically important medicine development that will impact health worldwide.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2019 Antipas was named as a finalist for the Women of Innovation award given by the Connecticut Technology Council. She\u00a0 is an American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education Fellow with a BS in Pharmacy from UConn (1989) and Masters (1991) and Ph.D. (1994) degrees in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Kansas.
