<\/a><\/p>\nUConn will co-host General Dynamics Electric Boat’s “potential supplier summit” in June.<\/p>\n
The event, which takes place June 16 at the Avery Point campus, will allow suppliers to learn more about opportunities to work within the Electric Boat Supply chain. Small and mid-sized manufacturers will have an opportunity to learn about EB\u2019s current needs, understand how to get into EB\u2019s supply chain and meet with EB supply chain executives and procurement managers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, headquartered in Groton, CT, and has been the primary builder of U.S. submarines for the last 114 years. Over the last five years, Electric Boat has purchased $296 million worth of supplies and equipment from 480 Connecticut suppliers.<\/p>\n
Electric Boat\u2019s vision is to be the preferred provider for concept development, engineering and design, construction, modernization, and sustainment for all U.S. Navy submarine programs, nuclear propulsion plants and undersea platform systems integration.<\/p>\n
Besides UConn, the event is being hosted by US Congressman Joe Courtney, \u00a0U.S. Department of Commerce, the state department of economic development and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology.<\/p>\n
The event takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at\u00a0 UCONN Avery Point Campus, 1084 Shennecossett Rd, Groton. Attendance is $35.<\/p>\n
