Gould<\/a> of UConn School of Medicine its 2022 Community Leadership Award for his outstanding contributions.<\/p>\n<p>For nearly 40 years The South Park Inn has been serving homeless men, women and veterans with dignity.<\/p>\n<p>But for the past two years COVID-19 has presented an extraordinary safety challenge to the South Park Inn which manages an emergency homeless shelter 24\/7, 365 days a year.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the tireless efforts of Gould, protocols were developed that were utilized in the congregate living situations of homeless shelters. Gould developed filter systems and essential policies and procedures that made it possible for South Park Inn to remain open every single day regardless of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Gould has been an advocate for the urban poor for decades. His commitment to providing quality medical care to those who are vulnerable, to those who are without resources, is unparalleled,\u201d said Jane Banks, executive director of The South Park Inn. \u201cWe recognize his achievements and honor him for his longstanding commitment to excellence in community health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This May the South Park Inn Advisory Committee launched to continue its vital work in advising and supporting the organization. Advisory Committee members are those who have previously served on the South Park Inn Board of Directors and have demonstrated a long term commitment to the organization.<\/p>\n<p>Gould, who is retiring from UConn Health this June, is founding associate dean for primary care at UConn School of Medicine and founding director of the CT AHEC Program. \u00a0Gould also serves as medical director of both the City of Hartford Department of Health and Human Services and the Community Health Center Association of CT (CHCACT).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to Dr. Gould on this well-deserved award,\u201d said Jade Stoltz, DSW, director of development and community relations for The South Park Inn.\u00a0 \u201cWe are so thrilled to always partner with UConn.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The South Park Inn\u2019s new Advisory Committee has awarded Dr. Bruce E.
