Ashmore<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size: 10pt\">Craig W. Ashmore (B.S. Mechanical Engineering\/Civil Engineering, \u201885) joined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.platinumequity.com\/leadership\/craigashmore\">Platinum Equity, LLC<\/a> as a principal responsible for senior level business development activities focused on identifying new acquisition opportunities.\u00a0 From October 2009 to November 2013, he was Executive Vice President of Planning and Development at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emerson.com\/en-US\/Pages\/Default.aspx\">Emerson Electric Co.<\/a>, serving as a Member of Emerson&#8217;s Office of the Chief Executive. As head of Emerson\u2019s M&amp;A organization, Ashmore evaluated more than 500 potential acquisitions, executing more than 50 buy-side transactions with an aggregate cost of over $6 billion.\u00a0 At Platinum Equity, he consults with executives at other large, global companies dealing with the same challenges he faced during a 22-year career as an executive and corporate dealmaker at the $25 billion global manufacturing and technology company.\u00a0 Ashmore holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18816\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18816\" style=\"width: 120px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/William-L.-DAgostino.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-18816 img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/William-L.-DAgostino.jpg\" alt=\"William L. D&#8217;Agostino<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size: 10pt\">William L. D&#8217;Agostino (B.S. Chemical Engineering\/Materials Engineering, \u201984), PE, has been appointed Senior Vice President, Operations at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.invivotherapeutics.com\/about-us\/our-team\/\">InVivo Therapeutics Holdings Corp<\/a>.\u00a0 Prior to his new responsibilities, he held the position of Vice President, Manufacturing &amp; Engineering. D\u2019Agostino joined InVivo in September 2012.\u00a0 Previously, he held the position of Vice President, Engineering at Angiotech Pharmaceuticals and was responsible for all product development and engineering activities across their international facilities. D\u2019Agostino worked for Covidien for fifteen years, gaining extensive experience with the development, synthesis and clinical production of bioabsorbable polymers. Computer Science &amp; Engineering, \u201985), vice president of strategy for digital commerce solutions at Pitney Bowes, was recently featured in a front page <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stamfordadvocate.com\/printpromotion\/article\/Pitney-Bowes-heads-in-new-direction-5553453.php\">article<\/a> of the <em>Stamford Advocate<\/em> business section.\u00a0 Reinventing itself as a leading player in the growing field of location intelligence, social media giants Facebook and Twitter are among users of Pitney Bowes geocoding software, one technology transforming the firm and their 1.5 million clients worldwide.\u00a0 Considered one of the top technologists at Pitney Bowes, Gracy is part of the team plotting that firm\u2019s trajectory into the soaring sphere of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/insights\/business_technology\/big_data_the_next_frontier_for_innovation\">big data<\/a> technologies.\u00a0 He earned an M.S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.S. in E-Commerce from the University of Maryland.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18818\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18818\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Monica-T.-Mohtasham.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-18818 size-thumbnail img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Monica-T.-Mohtasham-150x150.png\" alt=\"Monica T. Electrical Engineering, \u201904), senior project engineer at Pratt &amp; Whitney, was named one of six finalists for the <a href=\"http:\/\/ctsciencecenter.org\/\">Connecticut Science Center<\/a>\u2019s Petit Family Foundation <em>Women in Science Leadership Award<\/em>.\u00a0 Established in 2013 as part of the Science Center\u2019s Celebrating Women in Science initiative, this award recognizes exceptional leadership in promoting participation and interest of women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).\u00a0 The Women in Science SteeringCommittee narrowed the field of twenty applicants and faces the difficult task of choosing the award recipient.\u00a0 Their decision will be announced in the coming weeks and the award presented at the <a href=\"http:\/\/ctsciencecenter.org\/gala\/\">Green Gala<\/a> on September 27.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18819\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18819\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Yingli-Wen.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-18819 size-thumbnail img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Yingli-Wen-150x150.png\" alt=\"Yingli Wen\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 150px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 150\/150;\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18819\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size: 10pt\">Yingli Wen<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size: 10pt\">\u00a0Yingli Wen (M.S., Ph.D. Electrical Engineering, \u201989, \u201893) was named one of 50 Outstanding Asian Americans inBusiness for 2014 by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aabdc.com\/\">Asian American Business Development Center<\/a>.\u00a0 Honored for her professional and civic accomplishments that include teaching Chinese culture and language at the New York Chinese School in Westchester, New York, Wen is manager of the Electrical and Analysis Research group at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coned.com\/aboutus\/\">Con Edison<\/a> Cable and Splice Center.\u00a0 In 2011, she won a prestigious Technology Transfer award from the Electric Power Research Institute for creating a prototype arc recognition system for use in and around manhole structures.
